“Invention signals an end to agony”
Kathleen Taylor, aged 63, has suffered agonising back pain for more than a year as a result of a trapped nerve and slipped disc. The pain was so bad that she was not able to do any housework or cooking and became dependent on her husband Kevin for even the most straightforward everyday tasks.
She could only find relief when she was lying down and had to use a walking stick to get around the house. By mid-August the pain was so bad that her husband was considering giving up work to give her full time care.
However, on August 16 th Kevin came across an article on a revolutionary new form of pain relief called ENM (Electronic Nerve Modulation), invented by Blackburn GP Dr John Royle and pioneered by local company remedi.
As a last resort, Kevin ordered the device, despite his wife's protests that they had already spent enough money on pain relief, having spent more than £4,000 in the previous 12 months.
Kathleen used the walkman-sized device for 30 minutes twice a day with little hope that it could have an impact on her life. Within four days of using the device Kathleen had stopped using her walking stick and was able to walk to her local post office for the first time in months.
Just over a week later she was up a ladder cleaning the windows and had reduced her pain killer intake by 60 per cent.
Kathleen said: “I've been overwhelmed by the effect this has had on me. I was starting to think I'd be in pain for the rest of my life but I feel a hundred times better since using the device.
“I was feeling really useless because I couldn't do anything around the house and I was having to depend on Kevin for everything, even though he was working full time.
“I'm sure Kevin's also relieved that he doesn't have to do all of the housework anymore!”
Kevin said: “ I can't believe the effect this has had on Kathleen. It was awful watching her struggling to get around and suffering from so much pain.
“We've tried all sorts to help her, including ordering thousands of pounds worth of special furniture from Germany. I couldn't believe it when I found out that a company just down the road could provide the solution.
“I'm even planning to order an extra device to have as a spare because I couldn't bear the thought of her being without it now.”
ENM has been proved to work with pain associated with a range of conditions – provided that the pain caused is chronic (persistent and long standing).
