The ENM device is designed to modulate chronic pain in humans and animals, including dogs, cats and horses.

What is Vet ENM?

Image of the VET ENM deviceENM (Electronic Nerve Modulation) is the name of a new form of electrotherapy, which has been designed to work as an analgesic (painkiller) and an aid to sleep.  ENM can help your pet obtain relief from chronic pain associated with a range of conditions diagnosed by your vet.  The effect is produced by the modulation of the spinal cord via surface electrodes (collars) in such a way that your pet feels no discomfort.  The modulating impulses interrupt the pain signals as they travel along the spinal column to the brain.  The ENM device is simple and safe to use to treat your pet at home.

Are there any side effects?

There are no known side effects of ENM treatment. Your pet may carry on taking medication prescribed by your veterinary surgeon (indeed, this must not be stopped without his/her advice), your pet may continue to receive any complementary therapy and to continue leading a normal life.

What can Vet ENM treat?

Vet ENM will bring relief from chronic pain only. Chronic pain is long standing, persistent and recurring pain. Your veterinary surgeon will help you to determine whether the pain your pet feels is of this type and whether ENM is helping to relieve it. You will also notice whether your pet becomes more active and can do things such as going upstairs, jumping etc. which may have been difficult for some time.

Safety

Vet ENM is safe for you to use at home with your pet. Most importantly, Vet ENM will not mask acute pain. Therefore, if symptoms do not resolve after treatment or if new signs arise, consult your veterinary surgeon at once as a new condition may be affecting your pet. ENM should not be used on pregnant animals (there is insufficient data available)

Using your vet ENM device

Using the Vet ENM device to treat your pet is very simple.  The device includes a built in rechargeable battery and comes packaged with a double lead and two collars, which are placed over the spinal column after being connected, via the lead, to the device.

Place one collar over your pets head and around its neck, and place the other collar around the abdomen, just behind the rib cage.

How long does the treatment last?

For each 10-20 minute treatment your pet may obtain several hours to several days relief from pain. If the pain has been very severe then the frequency of use will need to be greater (perhaps 2 or 3 times per day). Otherwise, it may be possible to treat every few days or even only every week to 10 days. Your pet's activity and attitude will be your guide together with your veterinary surgeon. ENM is an “accumulative” therapy and initially it may be necessary to use the device more frequently until the treatment becomes established.

How will my pet tolerate treatment?

Most pets become relaxed, even sleepy during treatments. Some will actually lie down and sleep quite deeply. This is normal and you should find that your pet actually enjoys its treatments.

Some animals may be reluctant to restrain at first, but once the collars are in place and the machine is on they should settle down. Choose a quiet time of day when perhaps your cat or dog would normally come to receive attention from you.
